“He mocks proud mockers but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.”

The eternal, the Holy, the divine God of the universe scorns those who have an arrogant, proud and haughty attitude. God not only has no patience for those people but, Solomon tells us He mocks or “teases or laughs at in a scornful contemptuous manner”. It is an extreme picture but when we recognize the perfection and Holiness of God how could He tolerate any of it. Conversely, how He responds to His children who have a proper understanding of who He is and who we are is certainly understandable. When we get a glimpse of the almighty in light of our sin it is humbling. When we grow in understanding of our sin the proper reaction must be humility. When God’s followers are oppressed in living humble, modest lives it will irritate Him in the same way we as parents are irritated (or worse) when we observe our children being abused for living a humble God honoring life. When we consider these two extremes is not hard to understand God’s response to both. Today live humbly. #BeTheEdge
