“For jealousy arouses a husband’s fury, and he will show no mercy when he takes revenge.”

Jealousy, fury, and revenge – now there are three characteristics no one wants to believe describe them. You might not be a husband. If you are, you are probably not dealing with jealousy and fury over your spouse. If you are, however, I suggest you pay very close attention to the truth in this verse. Even if you don’t struggle with these, it is still worth while to focus on what Solomon is teaching. All of us are capable of jealousy. There is no doubt that we almost all experience a degree of anger. Whether or not it grows to the level of fury only you and God’s Spirit can discern. The surrounding verses tell us that this person is justified in these feelings. We can also be justified in feeling these types of strong emotions. One of the many advantages of the Spirit-led life is being given the ability to not allow those emotions to control us. The Spirit-led life of a believer is never controlled by our raw emotion. We learn to wrestle them into obedience with the help of the Holy Spirit, who resides in us. One of the functions of God’s indwelling Spirit is to govern our emotions and lead us to react and respond in a way that represents the God we serve. Our prisons are filled with people who are driven solely by their emotions. Our Kingdom life needs to be directed by His Spirit. One of the most powerful ways to point others to God is to allow them to witness the supernatural responses that can only be attributed to our relationship with, and direct intervention by God through His indwelling Holy Spirit. That is what a lost and hurting world longs for. It is how they can find peace in the midst of their storms. Today allow God’s Spirit to respond through your challenges. #BeTheEdge
