“Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise.”

In college I was in ‘Inherit the Wind. which is a play by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee. The main theme was about freedom of thought and was intended to make the case against McCarthyism. The phrase Inherit only wind in this verse symbolizes that those who brought strife on their family will ultimately come away with nothing. Their life and homes end up empty and destitute. Similar to the play I see too many families broken apart by political arguments. I decided years ago that if one of my children was going to become estranged over a political issue I would let them walk into the voting booth with me and tell me exactly how they would like me to vote. You may disagree with this and I’m not entirely sure I blame you. I have a degree in political science and I love the arena of politics. I have some strong convictions. However my love for my children and my desire for a relationship with eternal influence supersede any political issue. None of my children have ever asked me to do this but they know if they did I’d do it. An eternal soul is more important than anything else. Today choose the eternal option. #BeTheEdge
