“People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving.”
Again, this is not a justification for stealing. Solomon is specifically comparing the sin of adultery with the sin of stealing. There can be understanding and compassion for a thief stealing food to feed himself and his family while none exists for the previously mentioned adulterer. Where retribution can be made by the thief there is no undoing the act of adultery. Sexual sin costs everyone involved although maybe not in a financial way. This is why we are told that every other sin impacts us outwardly while sexual sin costs us on the inside, in our spirit and soul. This cost goes beyond adultery. Seeking sexual gratification through sex heavy shows and movies, porn, even conversation with “the guys” that is sexually explicit has a cost on our spirit. It wears us down. It also cheapens one of the greatest gifts of God. It can do irreversible damage to relationships. God can forgive and redeem anything, when asked He does, but broken relationships often stay that way for a lifetime. Today enjoy every gift God has given us, but be sure it’s how He designed for them to be enjoyed . #BeTheEdge
“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18 NIV
