“Come, eat my food and drink the wine I have mixed.”

In this passage as in life God makes His beautiful offer of salvation, grace and wisdom to the simple and even the foolish. I don’t know about you but I find great comfort in this truth. There can be a sense that God shows preference to those who seem a bit smarter, more talented and living a better life. Solomon shows us that God shows the same level of grace to everyone regardless of their perceived worldly value or social status. As a matter of fact, “One of the mysteries of the Gospel tradition is this strange attraction of Jesus for the unattractive, this strange desire for the undesirable, this strange love for the unlovely. The key to this mystery is, of course, Abba. Jesus does what He sees the Father doing, He loves those whom the Father loves.” – Brennan Manning (The Ragamuffin Gospel) I love this truth. I also feel a sense of responsibility to reflect this same attitude in my life. Jesus tells us that when we are kind and show compassion to the ‘least of these’ we are in reality showing it to Him. I shared this concept with my six year old granddaughter the other day. She found it easy to understand. It is. Today let’s follow His example #BeTheEdge

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” Jesus
