“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

I recently shared with one of our founders what I believe God is leading our ministry to add over the next few months. He is a good friend and very successful business leader. I received this text from him shortly after our visit, “Pray to the Lord, study the scripture. Submit to the Lord, ask that His will be done on His timetable and then be still and at peace and be on the ready to enter the doors He opens – a great process to learn our calling.” It was great counsel and lines up well with Solomon’s counsel in this verse. Perhaps the most often asked question I have encountered in over 45 years of ministry is about discerning God’s will. Teenagers looking for counsel on dealing with a problem, their parents, college choice, who to date and many other issues ask this in different ways. Business leaders looking to discern a job change, succession plan, investment opportunity and dozens of other things ask the same question. What is God’s will? Laying it all before God and waiting (the hard part) for His leading whether through opened and closed doors, audible instruction (rare) or many other ways of revealing His plan, is our role. As my friend said, be ready to move on His command. Today give it to God, it’s really His anyway. #BeTheEdge
