“The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.”

At the start of my ministry, over 40 years ago, a friend took me aside and told me the main thing I needed to watch for that could disqualify me from ministry. My mind flashed on a number of issues that had recently destroyed ministers and their ministries. The ever present sexual sin has destroyed more than a few ministers. Financial impropriety is another on the list of sins that have destroyed good ministries. The list only continues so when he took me aside I listened expecting to hear one of those. I was caught off guard when he shared that I could look good in ministry without needing the Holy Spirits work. I was a bit surprised. His point he explained was that in ministry we could fool every one around us for a while until we fell in one of the other sin areas. I considered his counsel and saw the truth in it. I determined not only to avoid and set safe guards for the big visible sins but to live knowing that regardless of what anyone else thinks or believes about me and my life God was staring directly at my heart and soul. Though others may test our words and actions God has a laser view at our hearts and can not be fooled. Regardless of your calling He does the same with all His children. And His motive is love. He loves us too much to let us get away with anything less than His perfect desire and plan for our life. Today recognize who really knows all. #BeTheEdge
