“Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness.” ‬‬

Jesus had callouses. The word that the King James Bible translates carpenter is Tekton. It literally means builder. In King James day they saw that builder as a carpenter. If you’ve been to Israel you probably realize that Jesus most likely was a stone mason who was also able to do carpentry. Whatever he spent his time doing professionally in his stepdads business it certainly involved hard work with His hands. Hence, Jesus had callouses. This verse is not a caution against hard work, even really hard work. Scripture is full of directions to work diligently and not to be lazy or a sluggard. It actually says if you don’t work hard you should not eat. As is the case in much of scripture this verse is about balance. If one’s motives are a willingness to do anything, especially schemes that take advantage of others, it is evil and wrong. Worldly wisdom, cleverness, leads to ignoring God’s will being done His way and we find ourselves doing our will the worlds way. Thats a dangerous place to be for us and those around us. Today pursue God’s plan for your story and let Him handle your needs. #BeTheEdge

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Jesus
