“The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh—an inspired utterance. This man’s utterance to Ithiel: “I am weary, God, but I can prevail.”

I see a lot of people these days that in quiet, honest moments admit very similar feelings to this man. Many are feeling weary. The kingdom ones add the second part, “but I can prevail.” Maybe the statement reflects how you feel today. If not, there’s no doubt there are times in all our lives that it is a reflection of the weariness that comes in these temporal bodies and this temporal life. The last three words, I can prevail, is the difference between those who serve God and those who don’t. As many believers as I see go through these times of weariness in their journey there are just as many non believers. Only the non believer does not have the lasting power of God to assure them they will prevail. The hopelessness and defeat of the non believer when life overwhelms or defeats them is heartbreaking to observe. The places they turn to for reserve strength and overcoming power are temporary and run dry. As a pastor this difference was often seen in the eyes of those attending the funeral of a loved one. Though both could be very sad one showed signs of hope while the other looked panicked and empty. Today find your strength in your Father. #BeTheEdge
