“For the Lord detests the perverse but takes the upright into his confidence.”

Solomon understands the incredible vulnerability and risk involved in taking someone into your confidence. His father, David, and King Saul’s son, Jonathan, shared a powerful bond of friendship. When David learned that Saul wanted him dead, he confided in Jonathan to help him understand why. It was a risky and bold move—David put his life in the hands of his dearest friend. In this verse, Solomon tells us that God brings us into an even deeper level of trust by taking us into His confidence. What an honor it is to know that the God of the universe invites us into such a deep and intimate relationship with Him. In contrast, we see that God looks down on and despises those who are intentionally unreasonable and despicable. To be detested by God sounds like one of the most painful experiences imaginable. To be taken into His confidence is a beautiful gift. Today, live rightly and enjoy God’s presence. #BeTheEdge
