“and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,” ‬‬

I must admit that, as crazy and stressful as Christmas was when our three children were little, I miss some of the madness and all of the excited anticipation of Christmas time. Going “light looking” as we drove through neighborhoods, “ooohing” and “aaahing” at the many lights and Christmas displays. Getting Christmas wish lists and mailing them to the North Pole. Delivering baked gifts to friends. Christmas Eve candlelight services and all the rest of what the season offers was always a touch magical—not just for the kids. The anticipation of the coming of the Savior’s birth, with everything we know now that has come from that event over the past 2,000 years, was truly majestic. Crazy at times, yet majestic. And it never seemed that difficult to experience the true meaning in the midst of it all. These days, it can sometimes seem harder to find the Savior in the manger. But it can be done. It needs to be done. This is a difficult season for many. Those struggling to pay their bills find little joy in the added burden of their children’s expectations. Those who are alone, perhaps having lost a spouse or parent, might also feel a hint of emptiness—maybe more than a hint. The challenge this season, as every day of the year, is to look for Jesus. Always look for Jesus. He fills the empty places. He reveals true joy. He meets every need. Today, look. #BeTheEdge
