“The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.”

Nothing—let me repeat that for emphasis—nothing ever has or ever will happen that God is unaware of. You and I have no idea what is going on in almost every part of the planet. At times, I don’t even know what’s going on right in front of me. God sees it all. Along with that fact is the reality that He is also all-powerful. So, what He sees going on, He can impact as well. Often, God is seen as some helpless old guy, watching and fretting a bit over what is happening in the world. That is a false picture. He is described throughout Scripture as the all-powerful Creator and Sustainer of the universe. That’s right—not only does He see all that happens on our planet, but He is aware of everything at every moment throughout the universe. And yet, He is also intimately aware of your deepest thoughts and fears, as well as your most private actions. That could be concerning until we add to those truths the unshakable reality of His unconditional love for each of us. The reason He tells us, as His children, not to worry or fear is based on that awareness and love. He’s got us. Recently, I saw this TobyMac quote: “There’s something comforting about a billion stars held steady by a God who knows what He is doing.” Ponder that for a moment. With the knowledge that the same God is ready to hold your chaotic life steady comes comfort and peace—perhaps even a hint of joy. Today, rest in the awareness of His watchful presence. #BeTheEdge
