“Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.”
I am often humbled in conversations with very successful people when they ask for counsel. Mostly, they are looking for insight on spiritual matters, but it still impresses me to see them so comfortably seeking input. I was once referred to by the Revenue Service as “the world’s worst businessman.” It’s a long story, but the fact that some of the world’s best business minds I’ve ever encountered still seek counsel is instructive. It shows the humility and lack of pride that helps them to be successful in life. I know business leaders who are more arrogant and dictatorial. They appear to believe they alone hold the keys of wisdom and knowledge, and their conflict with their teams is obvious. The longevity of their staff is in direct contrast to the teams who serve the humble leader. This principle holds true in families, athletic teams, and other forms of societal groups. Pride destroys teams, while humility and a willingness to learn strengthen them. God lifts up those who humble themselves in His time. Satan thrives through those who are prideful. Today, walk humbly as a learner. #BeTheEdge
