“My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways,”
This is essentially what we hear Jesus say about 3,000 years later. Both were telling us to love God completely with all that we are. Jesus referred to this when asked about the greatest commandment. He said that this, along with loving others as we love ourselves, summarized all the other commandments. That makes this quite powerful. Solomon knew that if we put our complete focus on knowing and living for God with every part of our being, there would be nothing left for Satan to manipulate and use to drag us away from Him. In giving God our heart, we are giving Him our deepest self. Our love and emotions become His. He created them to reflect Him in a world that needs to see His love and emotions in our everyday interactions. The opposite of this is a very dark place to operate. Operating from our own broken center is an ugly thing to witness, and only God can see the true depth of depravity a heart separated from Him carries. There is a clear difference between the two. Today, give Him all of you. #BeTheEdge
