“Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel;”

Did you make any ‘drossalutions’ this year? That sentence is giving my correction app fits. I know it’s a bit corny, but every January 1st, many of us resolve to make changes in our lives that we hope will make us better people. Some resolutions focus on physical changes: losing weight, exercising more, eating better, drinking less, and so on. The health industry increases its advertising significantly to capitalize on these changes. Others focus on their mental well-being: less social media or screen time in general, reading more books, participating in better conversations, and much more. Spiritual changes, relationship improvements, and other areas of life often provoke similar new directions for many of us. Ultimately, removing those things that keep us from living more godly lives and being conformed to the image of Christ is the believer’s primary goal: removing the dross. More correctly, allowing God to remove the dross and shape us into a useful vessel for His Kingdom is the goal. We can assist in this process by making ‘drossalutions.’ Thankfully, as God’s children, we can rest in the truth that He is committed to conforming us to Jesus’ image, whether we help or not. Today, join Him in the process.
