anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.”
I have always found this verse to be both a great reminder and a bit frightening. The idea that ignoring God’s truth or leading could cause Him to despise my prayers is heartbreaking. In an earthly comparison, who would want a parent or beloved friend to see anything about us as detestable—let alone a conversation or request from us? In Psalms, we are told that if we cling to our sin, God won’t listen to us. The purpose of this is that, eventually—hopefully sooner rather than later—we become so miserable being isolated from our Heavenly Father that we repent and return to Him. Sin cannot be tolerated in our journey. God knows how it rots our lives and creates separation, so He uses that distance to drive us away from sin and back to Him. It may seem harsh, but it is true love. As painful as it is for us to experience His silence, it is even more painful for Him. He gave His Son’s life so that we could freely communicate with Him. Today, repent when necessary and commune freely with your beloved Father. #BeTheEdge
