“Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.”

We have a local restaurant that provides excellent service from the kindest, most pleasantly attentive servers. As you look around the place, you’ll notice a chalkboard along the end of a low wall separating the tables. On the chalkboard, you’ll find a quaint saying that changes every week or so. At the end of the saying, they list the source, often citing figures like Paul of Tarsus or Jesus the Nazarene. These are usually Bible verses. A nearby office complex, which shares a lobby for the different businesses, also has a chalkboard with a handwritten “Proverb of the Day.” Beneath that, there’s a verse written from that day’s proverb. It’s not pushy or preachy, but it’s available. Often, what is written blesses or encourages me, and I’m certain it has the same effect on others. It’s cool how simple marker boards or chalkboards are showing up in office lobbies and restaurants, with a handwritten Bible verse. In this verse, Solomon encourages us to write or bind God’s truth to ourselves, so we never forget it or its power. Jesus also encourages us to let His truth settle deep in our hearts, guide our lives, and reflect to others. How powerful would it be to take this a step further, and become the source of God’s word—always in the eyes, mind, and heart of those who pass through our place of service by us placing a chalkboard with His truth on it? Imagine if you owned multiple locations and quietly positioned a verse, guided by the Holy Spirit, into whatever life He desires. Today, hold tight to and freely release His truth. #BeTheEdge
