“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.”

I would possibly dive into this verse in a sermon, maybe in a short book, but in a brief devotion—no way. What I can say is that the meaning behind ‘finds a wife’ is translated in other places as ‘God providing.’ As in, God provides a good king, and God provides a good man. A man does not convince a ‘good’ wife by his sense of humor, good manners, or creative personality. Those things can be attractive to a potential spouse; however, a man or woman of God ‘finds’ a good spouse by the mercy and gift of God. A ‘good’ wife is in the same sense as the Proverbs 31 woman. She is not good in the simple sense often accepted by the average person. God calls for excellence in our relationships, and He directs His followers to relationships that are more than average. He actually directs us toward excellence in every area of our lives. Average is for others; Christlike is for us. We settle for nothing less, or we miss His will in our lives. Favor from the Lord is our destiny. As a man I hope you found or will find the Proverbs 31 wife, if you are a women be the Proverbs 31 woman. Either way be the person of exemplary Christlike character in all areas and relationships. Today, don’t settle.” #BeTheEdge
