I’m a bit of a history guy. As my friend Freddy Langston penned in a song, I’m even more of a “His Story” guy. This group of Proverbs, as well as a major portion of the Psalms, are ascribed to these men who were a bit anxious that the contents would be lost to us if they did not undertake the project of getting them down in writing. Perhaps they were passed on by oral tradition to that point, but whatever the case, they did not want their wisdom and insight to disappear. A very wise friend, one of the founders of The Edge ministry, died suddenly. Another friend, who knew him well for many years, has taken on the task of writing down his favorite sayings and practices and pairing them with certain of his favorite Proverbs. There is a lot of great counsel that has been preserved over the centuries—Churchill, Lewis, Augustine, and Graham, to name a few. If you are unfamiliar with any of those, they are worth a Google search. The deeper meaning in this truth is that all of God’s written word is available and powerful. How many of us have more copies of the Bible in our homes than we will open in the remainder of our lifetime? Perhaps donating them is a good idea, to get them into the hands of those who will. Only His words, including those recorded by the men of Hezekiah, are living and active. Today, get them deep into your spirit. #BeTheEdge

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬
