“Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.”

As a follower of Jesus, I can easily say I trust Jesus more than myself. At first glance, that may seem to satisfy this verse. I would even agree that, as I learn the Bible, I try to walk in the wisdom found there as closely as possible. The problem with that thinking is that I can use it to let myself off the hook. In reality, there is no suggestion in this verse, or in the larger truth, that I don’t need to follow God’s wisdom in every moment and every area of my life. I can be guilty of believing that the really big things call for solid trust and obedience to God, but the smaller things are all within my purview. God makes no such distinction. Every move, every decision, every pursuit needs the voice of wisdom and the unencumbered truth of God. Not only is God to be trusted with every aspect of our story, but it’s the little things we assume we can handle on our own that tend to blow up and become the big disasters. Want to know what distinguishes the big from the little? Nothing. They are all important to our Heavenly Father. More often, they are all tests to help us grow in our ability to trust God in all things. Today, trust Him alone. #BeTheEdge
