“The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.”

God has always told us that how parents behave in relation to Him doesn’t only affect them but can also impact future generations. The blessing of godly parents on their children and beyond is a fascinating truth to consider and observe. “In Deuteronomy, Moses instructed the Israelites that upon entering the Promised Land, they should proclaim blessings from Mount Gerizim and curses from Mount Ebal, signifying the consequences of obedience and disobedience to the covenant.” In chapter four and many other places, the Israelites are instructed to teach these truths to their children and their children’s children. The other day, I sat with a couple of my grandchildren’s principals at a training. During that time, I expressed how grateful I was for the Biblical instruction included in their curriculum. As a grandparent, I feel a great sense of responsibility to ensure that all my grandchildren are clearly introduced to the truths about God. Solomon talks about the home of the righteous in this verse. Thankfully, he does not mention the home of the perfect. In shepherding a family, it is imperative that we model a godly, righteous life. It is also critical that God’s truth be present openly as well. Read scripture and pray together. Let it be known that this is the source of a righteous life. Today, reflect God. #BeTheEdge
